
Everest Region
Everest region is one of the top ten beautiful sites in the world to be visited in the life-time. It is famous for its topographical variation and unique culture and tradition. Mt. Everest, the highest mountain in the world, has unique natural landscape of the surrounding Himalayan peaks. Mt Everest area is also famous for its Sherpa villages and Buddhist monasteries. Additionally, Sagarmatha National Park, which extends to the area of 1,148 sq km, is also located in Mt Everest region.
This region contains 3% forest, 28% grazing land, and 69% barren land. It is rich in flora and fauna. Moreover, Sagarmatha National Park is also listed in the world heritage site The spring and autumn seasons are considered to be the best seasons to have the view of Himalayan peaks. During the spring season (from March to May), the temperature is warmer during day and night. It is also the best season to see a variety of rhododendrons blooming naturally.
Similarly, a number of endangered species like musk-deer, Himalayan black bear, wolf, goral and the Himalayan Tahrs are found in this region. Moreover, this region has popular peaks including Lhotse, Lhotsar, Gokyo, Mera, Ama Dablam, Makalu, Cho-Oyu, Nuptse, Pumori, Taboche. This region covers upper catchments of Bhote Koshi, Dudh Koshi and Imja Rivers and form one of the headwaters of the Ganges River.
Everest region is popular among the mountaineers and adventure trekkers. The combination of natural beauty of the surrounding mountain peaks and the local Sherpa culture makes this region as a popular tourist destination of Nepal.
